"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and take a look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Eeeny Meeeny Miny Mo...

We’re going to drop a big truth bomb now, so sit the f*** down!

. . .

That’s right, the big truth is that you have soooooo many choices when it comes to picking a wedding photographer.  There are a shit ton of us out there and we are all amazing (well, most) and have a similar style… so why pick us?

Because you like us, you really like us. (You’re going to spend the whole damn day with us). It’s that simple.

Take a look around, find out more about us, then let’s meet up for a chin wag and a drink.

Our Style

Effortless, on trend, neo-classic…oh wait, you meant our Photography?

The best word to sum up the amazingly fun, naturally honest, and emotionally charged style of our work (see what we did there) is ‘documentary’ (also called reportage or storytelling). Posing isn’t our jam, instead we go for all those real moments that make up the bigger story. We capture the beautiful and the ugly, the poised and the hot mess, the happy and the nervous. We don’t discriminate, if we saw it, we are going to get a picture of that shit! Life is full of overwhelming joy and insane messiness, so are weddings.

Ferris & who??

*not our real names

As you may have guessed, those aren’t our real names. We are Jessica and Julian, a wife and husband wedding photography team. We met in 2003, Jessica was all pasties and a g-string and Julian was dressed as a faceless man. We immediately bonded over our mutual love of Seinfeld and our favourite childhood films (The Goonies, Lost Boys, The Dark Crystal, etc.). Since then we have photographed loads of weddings in the UK, Ireland, and America. Now, we are living it up by the Sea in Brighton with our daughter and cat (and from 2020 on, lockdown dog).

Our motivation

Family first

This is why we do this job. Family. In 2010, the day before Jessica was to be 12 weeks pregnant with our daughter Nora (and the day we were going to tell the world about it), Julian was laid off from his mortgage paying, life supporting, office job. Life was thrown into turmoil and we spent the next couple of years scrambling about, looking for work in a country with no free healthcare and no social security net (the US), moving 3,000 miles to follow work, and then moving from the states, back to the UK - our 'American Dream' having somewhat failed.

We moved to Brighton, and while Jessica founded Jessica Milberg Photography, Julian took another desk job in London's trendy Shoreditch to cover the bills. He would leave the house a 7am, and return from work at 8pm, seeing Nora awake only on the weekend. He was again laid off three months later (last in, first out). It was an awakening: spend life and our "financial security" at the whim of an employer, or take the control of the reigns. We chose to both focus on the photography business - our shared creative love interest - still under the name Jessica Milberg Photography. In 2019 we changed the name of that business to Ferris & Sloane Photography, a name that represented the two of us.
